India successfully tests its nuclear-capable 5500-kilometer Agni-V ballistic missile.

On December 15, India successfully launched an Agni-V ballistic missile from Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

On Thursday, India successfully performed the night trials of the Agni-V ballistic missile, which has a range of more than 5500 km. Developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the missile was tested at a defence facility on Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

According to defence resources, the check was performed to validate new technology and equipment on the missile, which is now lighter than before. The trial demonstrated the capability of extending the range of the Agni-five missile with the resources brought.

According to the assets, the authorities issued a notification and declared the Bay of Bengal a no-fly zone ahead of the test.

The missile is capable of hanging China, including Beijing, as well as the entire country of Pakistan. "Agni V is capable of achieving any centre inside the Chinese mainland... We can take on China in the event of a nuclear conflict. "We have the functionality to assign them," Brig (ret.) Hemant Mahajan stated.

Agni-5 Highlights & Features

  • Through DRDO, Agni-5 has been created.

  • With a high degree of accuracy, it can strike targets at distances of up to 5,000–5,500 kilometres.

  • It is capable of a remarkable Mach 24 speed of 29,401 km/h.

  • A three-stage solid fuel engine powers Agni V.

  • It is truck-transportable, road-mobile, and may be canister-launched.

  • Agni 5 is capable of being outfitted with a MIRV that can transport several warheads.

Nuclear-capable Agni-V missile is a powerful addition to India's defence arsenal since it can be executed with 'MIRV' (Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle). This means that the ballistic missile is competent in carrying multiple warheads. This MIRV capability of Agni-V will give India much-needed deterrence.
